Japanese CCRG Weapons and Vehicles
By Owen Glover

Back to Vehicles and Equipment main page

Special Note: For further information on Japanese corporate mercenaries, see our article on the Corporate Competitive Response Group.

The subject of this particular report is the Corporate Competitive Response Group of a Pharmaceuticals developer, Akira Tetsuo International. Their performance was well publicised in 2177 during the ESU "liberation" of the NAC world of NAGISA. The ATI CCRG demonstrated their effectiveness following the limited "dirtside" conflict by virtually crippling an ESU Armored Division that had threatened collateral damage to a key ATI R&D plant. By careful use of EW assets and Interdiction Teams, the CCRG force isolated the Armored Division's HQ elements and negotiated concessions from the ESU forces that guaranteed ATI operations a market edge following the ESU pacification of NAGISA.

Note: the Personal Assault Weapon detailed below is a Flechette weapon ideally suited to urban or spaceship combat. The Smart Gun Support Weapon is an extremely advanced targeting-controlled weapon not commonly seen in even the best equipped armies.

Personal Assault Weapon (PAW)
The PAW is a semi and select fire weapon that fires a dual purpose flechette round. A 4mm densely packed core of 2mm carbon fibre flechettes nested in an outer core of loose flechettes provides an effective dual purpose round. The loose outer core acts as a sabot allowing the inner core to accelarate to high speed ensuring accuracy at long range. The sabot spreads like a shot gun round at close range.
FP: 3 (close range), 2 (beyond close range) Impact: d8 vs. Full Armoured targets (PA or hardsuit armour like the NSL or NI), d12 vs. Partial Armour or Light/Unarmoured. Close Combat bonus +1

Smart Gun Support Weapon (SGSW)
Pioneered by the US Colonial Marine Corps, this innovative target and control sytem has been swiftly adopted by many Japanese Corporate groups. Firing a 10mm caseless round from a dorsal mounted cylindrical magazine, this semi-intellignet weapon system can be programmed for personal identifaction beacons, making it ideal for anti-seige/hostage release work.
FP: d10 Impact: d12 Smart System: d10

Traditional Katana (sword)
May be carried by some personnel in command positions as a traditional mark of authority. They are a fear-inspiring sight in close combat.
Close Combat bonus +2

Multi Shot Rocket Launcher
A six-shot disposable anti vehicle weapon firing a 30mm dual purpose HE/HEAT unguided warhead. Interestingly, the MSRL may fire rockets in pairs.
FP: d8 Impact: d8* (may fire two rockets with one fire action)

Sniper Rifle
The ATI CCRG employs the standard NSL designed LG24 Laser Sniping Rifle.
FP: d12 Impact: d8

Body Armour
ATI have produced their own prototype full body flexible teflon based ballistic weave. Light weight and very effective against projectile/blast damage it is not well ventilated and will induce heat stress if worn in hot/humid climates for prolonged periods. The helmet includes a fully comprehensive C3I and targeting suite; due to the bulk of the systems it has a resemblance to 14 th C samurai equippage!
ARMOUR VALUE: d8 MOBILITY: Normal Infantry - 6" or d6x2" Sensors: d10 (Superior) ECM: d10 (Superior)

Power Armour
Transport manifests will always list military style Power Armour as Industrial Hostile Environment Mobility Equipment (HEME or hemi's). In reality these are Japanese developed military Power Armour. Handling more like professional sports equipment than military hardware, the Hemi is a very fast heavily armed and armoured PA model. A DFFG production variant (a blatant copy of an OUDF prototype not even finished testing in New Zealand!) is the primary Heavy Anti-Armour weapon in the CCRG arsenal. PA squads favour EW and Multi-Launcher-Packs to supplement the primary role of anti-armour or anti-strong point operations. ATI CCRG PA troops generally use versions of the standard PAW and SGSW modified for PA mounting, when not using the NT-11 or Avalanche MLP.
ARMOUR VALUE: d12 MOBILITY: Fast PA - 12" or d12x2" Sensors: d10 (Superior) ECM: d10 (Superior)

NT-11 Direct Fire Fusion Gun Semi Portable(DFFG/SP)
Essentially an over grown Infantry PPG the NT-11 requires a specially modified PA suit just to fire the weapon. Even then, power limitations on the PA restrict the NT-11 to lengthy recharges between firing.
Fire Con: Superior (d10) Impact: d12x2* Special: requires two consecutive actions of NON movement between firings.

"Avalanche" Multi Launcher Pack
A shoulder- or hand-fired Multi-Shot-Launcher-Pack similar to the standard MSRL
FP: d8 Impact: d8* (may fire two rockets with one fire action)
